Dryer Vent Cleaning
There were 15,500 dryer vent fires last year. Several in the F-M area and the numbers continue to rise. Why? Most people don’t know their dryer vents need to be cleaned. They clean out their lint filter now and then and think that’s it. But the dryer vent duct is where lint can really build up and get clogged, and lint is highly flammable, accounting for dryer vent fires.
Lint build-up also results in using more energy (and money) to dry your clothes. If your dryer isn’t drying your clothes like it used to, you may not need a new dryer! Clean the dryer vent before it’s too late. Quite often, we show up to clean a dryer vent and ask the customer how they heard about us. We are finding out that many of the local appliance sales and service companies are telling their customers to call us to clean the duct. They replace the dryer or replace a new heat element that burned out, but the problem was caused by a plugged vent. A dryer vent clogged with lint reduces airflow so your dryer doesn’t dry as efficiently as it used to. An inefficient dryer also uses more energy thereby costing you more money.
Filters
Upgrade to an Aprilaire High Efficiency Air Cleaner, the Cadillac of residential air filters. This filter uses a HEPA-type filtering media and attaches to your existing HVAC system. For particles larger than 5 microns (a micron is 1/25,400th inch) the Aprilaire High Efficiency Air Cleaner is 99% efficient. Particles as small as 1 micron can be filtered out at 95% efficiency. Try our 1 inch, multi-pleated 6-month filter. It has more actual pleats than other local 3-month filters. This increases the surface area, increasing the efficiency and increasing the time between filter changes. Over time, you save time and money by installing fewer filters. They are more durable in construction and catch much smaller particles than your standard fiberglass “dollar” filter.
Construction Clean Up
Save yourself a lot of headaches and unnecessary expenses down the road and have your HVAC duct system professionally cleaned after your renovation or new construction project. Before you start that renovation make sure your duct vents are covered and your fan system is shut off. Dust and debris from the construction process can contaminate your air duct system and reduce air flow. We assure that whatever the cleanup entails our team will leave it looking perfect.
